Importance of breastfeed

Breastfeeding is a blessing. It is a blessing for both mommy & the baby. Breastfeeding has a vast  history and it is said to gain popularity in the early 1970s. By gaining popularity I meant people have understood the importance of breastfeeding for both mother and the child. WHO  (World Health Organisation) also suggests breastfeed a baby at-least for the first 6 months.

While researching on this topic I have found encouraging breast milk is best for both the mother and the baby. It also has multiple health benefits. Benefits like developing a child's immune system, protecting babies from various diseases and allergies. It makes the baby stronger. It is not only the baby that gets benefited through breastmilk. Mother too achieves multiple health benefits. It is said the one who breastfeeds has lesser risk of cancer, lukeminia, etc.

The best part for me while breastfeeding my daughter was the connection that we both developed for each other. That is just amazing. For me feeding time was the best time to connect with my daughter. I remember initial days where breastfeeding was a challenge for me. At times I also had fever due to which feeding was a challenge. I would talk to my daughter and explain her Mamma needs some rest, after this feed can we both take a sound nap. Believe me or no, but my daughter used to understand my words through the touch and post feeding she would immediately fall asleep. Next she would wake up only when I used to wake her up.

So while talking about the importance of breastfeeding it is beneficial to health as well as emotions. Feeding builds a strong body , mind and emotionally connects the baby with mother.
